LongPath is seeking an experienced technician to help assemble, test, and deploy our advanced laser technologies at industrial oil and gas field sites. This position will provide a mix of laboratory based system assembly and testing as well as system installation at active industrial oil and gas facilities. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience assembling both electrical circuits and mechanical systems and will have solid knowledge of a wide variety of hand tools.

What You’ll Do

• Assemble and rework electrical circuit boards (both surface mount and thru-hole components) • Assemble, align, and test free space and fiber optic laser systems
• Install and service laser systems at industrial field sites
• Interpret electrical drawings, mechanical drawings, and wire lists accurately

• Identify and troubleshoot hardware problems associated with product design or workmanship issues • Measure/record test data and recognize/report out of tolerance conditions

What You’ll Need

• High School diploma or equivalent plus 2 years or more related experience or a related 2-year technical degree
• At least one-year experience assembling or testing electronic components, electrical cables, or rack systems

• Ability to perform soldering operations, including on very small/exacting components
• Knowledge of electrostatic discharge protection
• Good mechanical aptitude, hand-eye coordination, dexterity and the ability to work effectively with a variety of hand tools
• Ability to read and follow complex schematics, assembly drawings, and execute test procedures
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and to work outside in a variety of weather conditions
• Strong written and oral technical communication skills
• Ability to work both independently and in team environments
• Motivation, ambition, and self-starter attitude with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail

Additional Skills

• Experience with fiber optic or lens system assembly desired • Machine shop experience desired

Working Conditions

• Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, and at industrial oil and gas facilities • Travel and local commute between LPT offices and industrial field sites will be required
• Primary job location is Boulder, CO
